Winter Sports in Ticino
A playground of snow, slopes and alpine charm
From sledding thrills to alpine peace
Have you ever tried the longest sled run in Ticino? In Nara, in the sunny Blenio Valley also known as “The Sun Valley”, winter turns into pure fun. The main run stretches for 5 kilometres with about 480 metres of drop, winding through snowy slopes and dark green pines. On good snow days it can even extend all the way to Leontica, a descent that seems to last forever, with only the crunch of snow and the quiet of the valley around you.
More than sledding
But winter sports in Ticino aren’t only about sledding. The ski area offers around 30 km of slopes, from easy runs for first timers to steeper lines for those who know their skis. With snowshoes, the forest trails lead you across quiet ridges where time slows down. And tucked away in the woods there’s a small mountain bar, the kind of place where you stop for something warm and end up swapping stories with strangers.
The Blenio valley offers also a Nordic cross-country skiing centre. The centre has also a pedestrian walk and ice rink.
